प्रथम विश्व युद्ध सरु भएपछि त्यसबेला नेपालका राणा प्रधानमन्त्री चन्द्रशमशेरले अङ्ग्रेजहरुलाई सहयोग गर्नका लागि बबरशमशेरकाे नेतृत्वमा सात हजार पाँच सय नेपाली फाैज पठाए । यसपछि जनरल पद्यशमशेर, तेजशमशेर र केशरशमशेरकाे नेतृत्वमा पनि फाैज पठाए । युद्ध बढ्दै गइरहेको हुँदा अङ्ग्रेजहरुलाई सहायता गर्न नयाँ सैनिक भर्तीकाे क्रम पनि जारी राखियो । नेपालले त्यस बेला अङ्ग्रेजलाई दस लाख पाैन्ड सहयोग पनि गर्यो ।
नेपाली फाैजले प्रथम विश्व युद्धमा अाफ्नाे वीरता र साहस प्रदर्शन गरि अदभूत पराक्रम देखायो । यसले गर्दा शत्रुपक्षले पनि नेपाली फाैजकाे मुक्तकण्डले प्रशंसा गरेकाे थिए । प्रथम विश्व युद्धमा सहयोग गरेबापत नेपाली सरकारले ब्रिटिस-भारत सरकारबाट प्रतिवर्ष दस लाख रुपियाँ नगद पाउने भयाे । युद्धमा वीरता प्रदर्शन गरेबापत धेरै नेपाली फाैजले अङ्ग्रेज सरकारबाट भिक्टोरिया क्रस(Victoria Cross) र मिलिटरी क्रस(Military Cross) जस्ता सम्मानित पदक पाएका थिए । नेपाली वीरहरुका सम्बन्धमा जर्मन सम्राट् केजर विलियम द्वितीय यसाे भनेका थिए: "म मेरो सेनालाई विश्वका जुनसुकै सेनासँग लड्न पठाउछन सक्छु तर गाेरखाली सैनिककाे नाम सुन्नासाथ मेराे मुटु थर्कन्छ ।"
English Translation:-
After the outbreak of World War I, the then Rana Prime Minister of Nepal, Chandrashamsher, sent 7,500 Nepalese troops under the leadership of Baburshamsher to assist the British. After this, Faiz was sent under the leadership of General Padyashamsher, Tejshamsher and Kesharshamsher. As the war escalated, new troops were recruited to help the British. Nepal also donated one million pounds to the British at that time.
The Nepali army showed amazing prowess in the First World War by displaying their bravery and courage. Due to this, the enemy also praised the freedom fighters of Nepali Faiz. The Nepali government received one million rupees in cash annually from the British-Indian government for its assistance in the First World War. For their bravery in the war, many Nepali soldiers received prestigious medals from the British government, such as the Victoria Cross and the Military Cross. Regarding the Nepalese heroes, the German Emperor Kजरger William II said: "I can send my army to fight any army in the world, but my heart trembles when I hear the names of the soldiers."
